Kite Flying 101 & Mother's Day

We left the house on, what we thought, was a breezy day in hopes of flying our kite at the park. We are complete kite-flying novices, but were eager to get out there and try.  Once we ripped open the package to our $7 kite from Target, the wind essentially stopped. Justin and I were left in the middle of a field with two bored-looking two year olds. We could only laugh at ourselves and examine the leaves on the trees looking for evidence of some wind. It took a little bit of time, but finally the wind started moving again and our kite was airborne!

This all took place on Saturday - the day after the wedding. but before Mother's Day.  On Mother's Day, I awoke to my boys saying, "Mommy, it's your happy day!"  Justin made me my coffee while I opened my gifts from my sons.  They were so sweet and presented me with a Coach bangle bracelet & a gift certificate to Sunglass Hut.  Totally unnecessary, but very kind nonetheless.  We had brunch at home with Mom & Dad V before heading to my mom's house for dinner.  It was a quiet, peaceful and relaxing Mother's Day -- one that I was VERY grateful for!

The Boys First Wedding

On Friday night, Aunt Christa and Uncle Charlie tied the knot and we had a BLAST celebrating their union!  I can say with all honesty that this was the most beautiful wedding that I've ever attended.  Every detail was well-thought out and executed perfectly.

Christa wasn't worried at all about Nolan & Luke walking down the aisle, but I was very nervous.  I imagined tears & stage fright, but neither happened!

I started the day at home with my 3 guys. We spent the previous night at the rehearsal, so the boys knew what to do, but I reiterated to them how important it was that they carry their flags down the aisle for Aunt Christa.  Justin & I then left for the wedding and my mom & Aunt Chica would bring the boys up to us right before the ceremony.  I joined the bride and bridesmaids in the bridal suite and we glammed-up.

This was the first time I ever wore false eyelashes and I LOVED THEM!

me DSC_0307 I'm considering wearing them every day now.... Back to the wedding. Christa was cool and calm throughout the entire day, but I was still a bundle of nerves simply because of my little cuties. Speaking of cuties....their outfits...adorable. nolan luke

We all began our procession down the aisle. I intended to walk with both of my little guys while they each carried a flag, but the Maid of Honor took pity on me and walked with Nolan because Luke was being a hand-full. He didn't want to carry the flag but instead wanted to carry rocks down the aisle. I ended up carrying the "Here comes the Bride" flag for him while he threw his rocks into the fountain. I had to rely on other people for these pictures, so here's Nolan head and the MOH! nolie And here I am with Luke. I'm carrying the flag & he has the rocks. We literally stopped halfway down the aisle to throw rocks into a fountain. me1

I don't want to ruin the bride's surprise and post her pictures, but oh my goodness, was she and Charlie stunning!!! I cried like a baby during the ceremony and am so happy that the two of them found one another because they're just the sweetest couple ever. After the ceremony, we did some family pictures and the boys left to go home with my mom and Aunt Chica. I'm glad I had an extra two sets of hands there to help corral the boys!! Then it was time to party...and BOY did I party! me&j me&K

Exciting stuff, I know.

Last week, I traded my awful Blackberry for an iPhone and, oh my goodness, it has been wonderful.  It doesn't take 4 seconds from the time I hit the shutter release button until the phone actually takes a picture - amazing.  Since I now have a phone that can actually take a picture, I joined in on the Instagram fun.  If you care to follow -- jennyvag.

This past Friday, my mom and I took the boys to Chuck e Cheese for lunch.  They had a field day with the "Gold Doubloons" that magically appear from the cash register once you pay for your food.  Pictures are forthcoming.  I have a couple of photo shoots I'm still editing before I will get to those pics!  When I told them that we were going to Chuck e Cheese, Luke immediately told me, "I don't want to see the band!"  He is PETRIFIED of the singing characters there.  They are pretty creepy looking, I guess.

Later that evening all four of us went to Justin's long-time hair cutter (that's such a strange thing to type out: hair cutter) so that all of the V boys would have nice hair for Christa's wedding this week!

On Saturday, Justin was at an all-day golf outing (living the life, I'll tell ya!) but he did very well and his team placed second.  He brought home 4 Phillies Diamond Club tickets for June 1st which is awesome!  Since it was Cinco de Mayo, Chica & Eric came over to celebrate and watch the Derby with us.

I didn't sleep very well on Saturday night so by the time Sunday morning rolled around, I was beat.  Mom Mom called around 10 a.m. and asked if she and Poppy could take the boys to the Strawberry Festival at Peddler's Village.  I quickly got my guys dressed and ready to go.  They were pretty excited and came home with a couple of new toys to play with!

And here is Luke playing with the Weebles that Grandmom & Grandpop Ohio brought for them last Christmas - they STILL love playing with them!  Also, Luke's wearing my flip flops!

Justin and I are obsessed with Luke's voice.  He has the cutest accent EVER and we love to hear him speak.

"What do you want for breakfast, Luke?"

Justin will ask Luke to repeat random phrases like, "put the sausage in the garbage" because it just sounds so sweet coming from him!
