Snowy weekend with Mom Mom & Poppy

As I previously said, we woke last Thursday morning to leave for our ski trip, and we found...more SNOW! It seems never-ending this year, but I'll try not to complain too much.

Daddy had to clean off the truck before we could leave. He shoveled snow for 3 hours that morning.

No surprise here - the boys couldn't wait to get themselves out the front door to play in the snow! Mom Mom & I got the boys dressed in their snow suits and boots.

Mom Mom and Poppy told me that the boys were very well-behaved while we were away. They visited a few places and people and they got to eat lots of yummy food!

It was nice to get away with Justin and friends, but I really miss Luke and Nolan when I'm away from them for more than a night. It was awesome spending the entire day with them today. They were so happy and cuddly - exactly how I love it!

Cell Phone Picture Post

Justin and I have been away for a few days doing some skiing, so Luke and Nolan got some great two-on-two time with Mom Mom and Poppy. I received lots of cell phone pictures during my ski trip and here are some of my favorites!

The night before we left for the mountain house, it snowed 16 inches. While Justin and his dad were shoveling the driveway, Mom Mom & I were able to play in the snow with the boys. We had a blast!!

19 Months Old

Well boys, for your 19 month-day, the two of you and mommy shared something very special: a stomach virus. Oh, and on top of the virus, Luke, you had an ear infection.

Yes, it wasn't a very fun few days (there was a lot of laundry-washing, vomit-cleaning, poo-cleaning, baths and carpet cleaning) but we all made it through.

It is currently 7:32 a.m. and you are both sleeping peacefully upstairs in your cribs. You both had a great night's rest and I'm hoping that today we are all feeling like ourselves again.

Now, it's on to some of your 19 month stats: not a whole lot has changed in the past month. Nolan, you're really beginning to communicate with words so well. Luke, you are a little spit-fire! Your words don't come as easily as Nolan's, but I anticipate that you'll start speaking more in the coming weeks.

Nolan, you are a cuddle-bug and a little lover.

Luke, you are the most independent little boy, and I don't think you have any fears at all.

We are still working on forks and spoons. Nolan, you love to use them, but Luke would prefer it if daddy or I fed you. I think that's my fault though, I hate the mess that is made when you guys use utensils, but that's something that I need to work on.

I am hoping that the rest of January and February leave us all cold and virus-free. I really dislike seeing you both sick and upset.

Here is a picture of you boys from last weekend with cousin, Jake. Nobody was sick, you were all happy and having a blast!

I love you both.
Thank you for another fun month.
All my love,
Mommy

Rawr

This past weekend, the family gathered for Jake's first birthday party. There were loads of kids for Luke and Nolan to play with! There was also a face painter there. I was a bit apprehensive because I didn't think either boy would sit still long enough for the artist to do her thing.

It turned out that they really needed to sit on my lap while they were being painted. Nolan wanted nothing to do with it, but Luke sat like a perfect angel while the artist painted his face orange, yellow and white.

Neither boy made it to the 'whisker' part of the painting. Nolan just wouldn't sit still, and Luke became very upset when the artist pulled out the thin paintbrush to put the black whiskers on.

The result = partially painted tiger faces.

They still looked adorable to me.

"Mommy"

"Mommy."

Hearing it is like music to my ears. My boys have always called me "mum," but 4 days ago, Nolan started calling me 'mommy.' I just about cried when I first heard it.

He is speaking so many words now. Not all of them are perfect, but I think he is doing a fantastic job!

Our Snowmen

We got some more snow again yesterday, so the four of us went outside to play. Luke and Nolan both enjoy the snow and lucky for them, so do their parents.

This white stuff sticks to me?!

You can't tell from this picture, but our snowman is wearing an Eagles hat.

We had a blast playing outside. It's nice to use the kids as an excuse to put on my ski pants and roll around in the snow. I'm pretty excited for when they're big enough to actually go sledding. There's a hill called 'suicide hill' near us that I haven't been to since I was a teenager!

I was hoping that the little guys would be tuckered out from running around so much, but no dice. They came inside and had more energy than ever. I had to move one of my couches about two feet from the wall because they use it to climb into our bay window. They've been climbing everything lately but yesterday was a particularly adventurous day.

Justin and I are hitting the slopes tomorrow! It'll be our first time this winter and I'm really looking forward to it. We're both looking forward to when we get to take our boys skiing with us. My parents have had me on skis every year since I was 8, but Justin and I plan on teaching the boys at either 2 or 3. We'll have to wait and see!

More Snow

I was lucky this year - snow fell on my birthday. As a kid, I never liked having a January birthday because you couldn't have a pool party to celebrate. The way mother nature makes it up to me is by making it snow. I love it!

I had a photography class Saturday morning so by the time I returned home later that afternoon, Luke and Nolan were very interested in what was going on outside. There was only a couple inches of snow, but Daddy went out to clear our walkway and they were intrigued.

Look at those hand prints. It's no wonder I have to clean that door every other day!

18 Month Well Visit

Luke and Nolan's 18 month well visit was this morning. We woke up to snow which was nice and by the time we arrived back home from the doctor, the snow had stopped falling. Only two inches, but it's enough to make everything look pretty.

Luke was first to be seen and he weighed in at 21lbs 4oz. He still remains my little skinny-mini! He did have a growth spurt though and shot up to 31 3/4 inches. I could definitely tell by the way his pants have been fitting him!

Nolan was next and he weighed in at 23lbs 6oz. I could have sworn he was like 26 lbs - he seems so heavy to me! He is in the 90th percentile for height being 33 1/2 inches.

The doctor asked about how they were eating and how many words they were saying.
  • milk
  • bye bye
  • no
  • Nol (Nolan)
  • Luu (Luke)
  • one
  • bus
  • more
  • dada
  • muuum (mommy)
  • Pop (I love when we pull into Pop's driveway & the just know to say "Pop!")
  • baby
  • truck (they don't say the 'ck' but they're trying!)
  • nose
  • bath
  • teeth
  • shoe
  • night night
  • choo choo
  • book

  • They are beginning to answer me when I ask them questions like, "Nolan, is there a poopy in your diaper?" He shakes his head 'yes' and lays down on the floor to be changed.

They're wearing size 5 diapers although Luke could definitely wear a size 4. I refuse to buy two different sized diapers though. Nolan is just too tall for a 4. They look like thongs on him!

Nolan is in 24 month clothing and Luke is wearing 18 month.

That's about all I can remember for this update!
