Wordful Wednesday

I absolutely LOVE the look on Luke's face in this picture!
You can sort of see his hair in this picture -- they do have hair, I swear!

We fed the boys cereal for the first time the other night. What a mess!

"what are you feeding me, devil woman?!"
This was taken before Luke flipped his lid and screamed for a bottle. What is this stuff running down my face and getting into my chubby neck rolls? "seriously dad, I just want a bottle. no more goopy stuff. thanks."
The whole feeding session didn't last too long, but my mom fed them at lunch the following day and they did much better!

4 Month Wakeful?

Does this look like the face of a little baby who wants to keep his parents up all night?

If your answer was "no," you would be incorrect. This little guys has been keeping us up at night.
A mere 3 hours after this picture was taken, this little guy was awake in his crib talking and wanting to play. It definitely isn't his hungry cry...there's no mistaking that one! He just wants someone to keep him company and play. Mommy doesn't want to play in the middle of the night.
He isn't waking up just once throughout the night, that would be easy, he's waking at least 3 times. I haven't figured out if it's because he isn't being swaddled (since last Tuesday or so) or because of the infamous 4 Month Wakeful. Our pedi says it happens to some babies and not others.
We're going to experiment tonight and try to swaddle him again to see if he sleeps through the night.
If your baby went through the 4 month wakeful period, what did you do? Bottle? Rock back to sleep? CIO? I'm interested in suggestions!

4 Months Old

We just returned from L & N's 4 month well visit and they're fast asleep laying side-by-side. Because it's cold season, we were at the pedi's office for an hour and a half. There were tons of sick kids there, so we waited in the hallway to try and avoid the germs. Hopefully it worked.

Here are the little guys' stats:

Luke -- 13lbs 10oz -- 24.5" long

Nolan -- 15lbs 2oz -- 25" long

After they were finished with the measurements, it was time for shots. I absolutely hate hearing them cry out in pain, but it was over quickly and they received their cuddles from mom and dad.

We were given the okay for cereal mixed with formula from a spoon. She said not to give it to them in their bottle so that they can get accustomed to eating from the spoon. We can start fruits and veggies at 5 months. I may try giving them cereal some time next week. I'm not really in a rush as they seem very content with their bottles at the moment.
They are both very responsive to our voices and smiling faces. I remember thinking back when they were just a month old that I couldn't wait for the smiles and now I'm getting them all throughout the day. It's incredible!
Another thing we did this week was get rid of the SwaddleMe's. I figured that since Nolan was rolling, I would take the opportunity to get them both out of the swaddle habit. Since we've done it, we've had to go into the nursery a couple of times a night to give a paci and rock back to sleep, but it hasn't been awful. I am missing my 8 non-stop hours of sleep though.
I am looking forward to what the next month will bring!

Playing Catch-Up!

It's been a crazy-busy week around here, so I haven't been posting much. Okay. I also have become addicted to Scrapblog and have spent basically every spare minute I have making a scrapbook for the boys. But that's besides the point.

My mom (Grammy), who watches the boys while I'm working, has been sick since last Friday, so she wasn't able to watch the boys this week. The GREAT news is that the boys were lucky to have Mom Mom watch them! Not only were the boys lucky, but so were Justin and I. I loved coming home to a delicious dinner (yay!) and folded laundry. So nice!
I got a hair cut yesterday. I needed to add layers because my hair is falling out. Yes, you read that correctly: my hair is falling out. It's everywhere. I know there's nothing I can do about preventing the hair loss because it's all hormonal, so I figured that a some layers would make my hair look thicker.
The boys are 4 months old today!! I haven't had a chance to take their monthly picture, but I will definitely do it tomorrow before their 4 month well visit with the pedi.

Here are some pictures from our week!

Nolan is Rollin'!!!

I am so excited! Justin got home from work and I was in the kitchen making dinner (with veggies!!) when he called me into the living room and we caught Nolan rolling over! I didn't get the first one (or two) on video, but I did manage to catch it!

He hasn't stopped! Now every time he's on his back, he flips over to his belly, but he hasn't managed to roll back to his back again, so he's getting frustrated.

I'm so proud of the little guy!

Puffy Boys

It was in the 40's here yesterday, which isn't terribly cold, but I wanted to see the boys in their winter coats (read: arctic winter snow gear), so when we went to Mom Mom & Poppy's house for dinner, we took the opportunity to put them in them.

The only problem was that the straps need to be adjusted on the car seats to accommodate the extra layer. We needed to adjust the straps anyway because the boys have grown so much, we needed the extra slack. My little babies are getting so big and this is just another sign!

Mommy Confession Monday

This one is pretty bad: I haven't had a vegetable in about a week. Seriously. I'm trying to think about it and the last veggies I can remember are the ones that I roasted for my pasta last weekend. Last night we had dinner at Mom & Dad V's house and I had a tomato in my salad. The tomato is technically a fruit though, right?

Post-Baby Body

I'm posting this because I always liked hearing about it on other people's blogs.

When I got pregnant and found out I was having twins, I was elated!! I so badly, wanted to be a mom and my wish had finally come true. Then people started saying to me, "oh my goodness, you're going to be huge," and "good luck taking the weight off ::chuckle::"

If I said that I wasn't concerned about how my body would look after my boys were born, I'd be lying.

I think we all think about what it will be like. I hadn't been pregnant before, so I didn't know how carrying two babies would affect me. My body hurt after about 33 weeks of carrying around the little ones and I couldn't imagine what it would be like to feel "normal" again.

This morning, I hopped on the scale and saw that I am the closest to my weight goal than ever before. I don't plan on getting back to my pre-pg weight of 116 because my BMI was borderline for someone who is 5'6" (unintentionally -- I'm far from a dieter or exerciser!); but my goal is 120 and I'm only 4lbs away.

Overall, I feel healthy and energized (amazingly!). I'm getting stronger from constantly lifting the little guys and bending down to hang out on the floor with them all the time. It's like non-stop squats!

Bouncing Baby Boys...Literally

It seems like day in, and day out, my boys are doing the same things in terms of "playing." Besides sitting in our laps, the boys really enjoy their jumperoo and activity mat. For the first two months, Nolan LOVED the swing. Some nights this was the only way we would be able to get him to sleep, but he seems to have moved past his love affair with it.

I love that their feet are getting closer to the floor when I put them in their jumperoo...but they aren't quite reaching it just yet!

Luke & Nolan's Christening

We celebrated the boys' Christening this past Sunday!

Luke and Nolan were both very well-behaved throughout the ceremony. They slept comfortably in each of their godmothers' arms. I anticipated many tears and screams as the holy water was poured over their little heads, but Father cheated…he warmed the water before we started!

Now, I know that couples are notoriously late for events after they have children because it's very time-consuming when you have to get yourself ready; but add two children to the mix…forget about it! I rushed around my house on the morning of the Christening like a mad woman. Miraculously, we made it out the door on time. I was completely stressed out, but we made it on time.

After the ceremony, we had our family come to our house for lunch. Luke and Nolan sucked up all of the love and attention that they were given. With all of the happiness, one would think that I might manage to snap a picture of one of the boys with a smile on his face. Well, it didn't happen! They look miserable in almost every picture, but I swear they weren't!

They also got to meet my dad, Colleen and my two brothers, who came in from Ohio for the celebration. I was so happy to see them hold their first grandchildren!

Seriously...the Holy Water container looks

We got such a kick out of it!

I wouldn't have survived the day without my mom!

It's so beautiful!

Lucky little Tank got to wear one of the boys' jacket!

Overall, it was a great day and we are all so blessed to have such an amazing family.

Mommy Confession Monday

With two babies, it's hard for some women to take care of themselves. This means that there are days where they fore go showers. Well...there has not been one day where I didn't take a shower. Even if both babies are awake and I am feeling crummy, I wait until they're content then I run to the bathroom for a 5 minute shower. In all fairness, I do take the monitor into the bathroom so I can hear if they cry, but I need those 5 minutes to feel fresh and awake.
